Drop JPG images here

JPG or JPEG · Other image types work here too · up to 30 MB each · or click to choose

This converter needs JavaScript. It runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Looking for video or audio? Those live on the video pages. Word, Excel and other documents need a server-side engine, so I don't offer them — CloudConvert handles those.

Private by design

Files are read and written on your device. The page never uploads them, so there is nothing to delete later.

No limits, no watermark

Convert as many files as you like, as often as you like. There is no queue and no daily cap.

Fast and offline-capable

Your browser does the work, so a batch finishes in seconds and keeps working without a connection.

About converting JPG to PNG

Converting a JPG to PNG does not add back detail the JPG already threw away, and it will make the file larger. So why do it? Because every time a JPG is saved it loses a little more, and PNG stops that. If you are about to crop, annotate, or layer an image in an editor, working from a PNG means the only lossy step is the very last export.

Some tools and forms also just demand PNG: app store screenshots, certain CMS uploaders, and a lot of design software presets. This page gets you there in one step.

The conversion runs on your device. Nothing is uploaded and there is no limit on how many images you can convert.

Frequently asked questions

Will the PNG look better than the JPG?

No. It will look identical. Compression artefacts already baked into the JPG stay. The benefit is that no further quality is lost from this point on.

Can I make the background transparent?

Not here. JPGs have no transparency to preserve, and this tool does not remove backgrounds. It gives you a PNG you can open in an editor that does.

Why is the PNG so large?

PNG stores photographs inefficiently because it is built for flat colour and sharp edges. A 2 MB JPG can easily become a 10 MB PNG. That is normal.
