Lossless PNG copies of your iPhone photos

Drop HEIC photos here

HEIC or HEIF · Other image types work here too · up to 30 MB each · or click to choose

This converter needs JavaScript. It runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Looking for video or audio? Those live on the video pages. Word, Excel and other documents need a server-side engine, so I don't offer them — CloudConvert handles those.

Private by design

Files are read and written on your device. The page never uploads them, so there is nothing to delete later.

No limits, no watermark

Convert as many files as you like, as often as you like. There is no queue and no daily cap.

Fast and offline-capable

Your browser does the work, so a batch finishes in seconds and keeps working without a connection.

About converting HEIC to PNG

Most people converting HEIC want a JPG, but there are good reasons to pick PNG instead: screenshots with text, images headed into an editor for more work, or anything where you cannot afford a second round of compression. PNG is lossless, so the pixels you get out are exactly the pixels the decoder produced.

The trade-off is size. A PNG of a photo is usually three to five times larger than the JPG, so use this page for images you will edit or archive and the HEIC to JPG converter for sharing.

Like every tool on this site, the conversion runs in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the PNG so much bigger than the HEIC?

HEIC uses modern lossy compression; PNG stores every pixel exactly. For photographs that means a much larger file. If size matters and small quality loss is fine, convert to JPG or WebP instead.

Does PNG keep transparency from a HEIC?

HEIC files can carry an alpha channel, and if yours does the PNG keeps it. Camera photos never have transparency, so for those the PNG is simply opaque.

Is there a limit on how many photos I can convert?

You can add up to 50 files per batch and run as many batches as you like. Because nothing is uploaded, there is no daily quota.
