This converter needs JavaScript. It runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Looking for video or audio? Those live on the video pages. Word, Excel and other documents need a server-side engine, so I don't offer them — CloudConvert handles those.

Private by design

Files are read and written on your device. The page never uploads them, so there is nothing to delete later.

No limits, no watermark

Convert as many files as you like, as often as you like. There is no queue and no daily cap.

Fast and offline-capable

Your browser does the work, so a batch finishes in seconds and keeps working without a connection.

About converting PNG to WebP

If you run a website, WebP is the format Google has been nudging everyone toward for years. It keeps transparency like PNG, compresses like JPG or better, and every current browser displays it. A 1 MB PNG illustration often lands under 150 KB as WebP with no visible change.

This converter uses the WebP encoder built into your browser. Move the quality slider to trade size against fidelity; for graphics with flat colour 85% is usually indistinguishable from the original.

Everything runs locally. Your images never leave your device.

Frequently asked questions

Does WebP keep the transparent background?

Yes. WebP supports alpha transparency, which is exactly why it is the usual replacement for PNG on the web.

Which browsers can create WebP files?

Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari 16 or newer all encode WebP. On an older Safari the tool will tell you it cannot create WebP rather than silently handing you a PNG.

Is WebP safe to use on my website?

Yes. Every browser released since 2020 displays WebP, and it has been in Safari since version 14. For very old browsers you can serve a PNG fallback with the picture element.
